Contact my brother through his website if you are interested in opening a retail business he can supply you with the goods you need once you get your site setup. Look at yahoo stores or ebay stores. Those are a few of the cheaper ones that don't charge huge hosting and merchant accounts fees.

don't know how much you need but this company does personal loans and you can use it for your business. don't know how your credit is but if its low score then the interest will be higher.
never pay upfront fees.

A true business credit card is a line of credit that is taken in the name of the business, under the business' credit. Activity, whether good or bad, is reflected on your business' credit report through D&B and other financial institutions, and the liability for any debts incurred and bills owed is with the business. However, some companies out there offer "business" credit cards which they require a person guarantee for. These institutions will often ask for a personal guarantee, and will almost always ask for a social security number from the person applying for the card. If this is the case, the credit card is not a business credit card, but is simply a personal credit card which is used for the business. The business is not liable for bills and debts - you are. When applying for a credit card for your business, watch out for areas asking for your SSN (and not your TaxID or EIN) and be wary of any credit card that asks for a personal guarantee. By ensuring that your credit card is in the name of your business, you can help to build your business' credit, while avoiding creating problems with your own.

Many companies offer a list of credit cards that are issued under the business name only. Those lists typically run $300-$900, depending on the quality of the information inquiring. I would suggest starting your search online via google or yahoo. Search for "strong business credit" (just like that in quotes) to find services that sell the information.

Good luck,

You will probably have to find investors and you will probably have to give them equity stakes in the company.

Well, I am glad that you are studying so that you can be someone in life and that is also what I want to study (business; I want to earn an MBA). However, I can't offer you anything except for support and encouragement =/ Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come by and answer this.

But if they don't, then try asking it again but re-wording it to "What is the difference between venture capital firms and finance companies?"

Venture capital firms - loan you money but take a position of ownership in your company and the money they loan is senior debt. Finance company is just a provider of funds, there is no ownership interest.

With the current economic down turn and the banks being very nervous I think you may have a hard time raising that sort of cash without substantial amounts of your own.

I realise you're probably in the USA but here in the UK to get that sort of money you'd need to put up at least half yourself, then the bank would match it providing you had good collateral for them.

So that just leaves the Angel / VC investors. You will have to find someone who believes in your ideas but also that they can make money off them so a good idea and a good business plan is essential. You will also find that they will want a controlling interest in your company as their collateral.

The only other way to do it would be start small if that's possible. Operate from your house or back yard, use credit cards as working capital. Plough all your profits back into the business and make it grow, then when it's up and running and successful the banks should be easier to talk to with expansion plans.

Sorry, I realise most of this isn't what you want to hear but going into business isn't as easy as some people with their get rich quick schemes would have you believe.

Good Luck !
